Taeyun Kim (she/her) is a performer, a choreographer, and a writer. She got her BA in Dance from Sookmyung Women’s University, Seoul and MA in Performance Making from Goldsmiths, University of London. She recently performed at The Royal Academy of Arts, an interdisciplinary solo dance piece "La Valse de Dessin" that she choreographed in collaboration with a visual artist Charlotte Winifred Gérard.
In 2022, Taeyun put her first production in London "Choreographies of Care" at Thames Festival Trust. The project was funded by Arts Council England. In 2023, Taeyun put her seond production in London "MOLKA" at VAULT Festival, which was featured on Stagedoor as Lyn Gardner’s VAULT Festival 2023 Picks: Weeks 2&3. Taeyun was one of the finalists at Clapham International Film Festival in 2023 with her short film “the state”.
In 2024, Taeyun presented her short films "surplus" and "the state" at Fox Yard Studio, Ipswich. Taeyun debuted her first solo piece “He’s six years older than me” at The Lambeth Fringe 2024. The show was one of six selected out of the 150 at the Lambeth Fringe to be featured by Fringe Review in their article “Fringe Focus: Lambeth Fringe”.
Taeyun is on the path of expanding her career to film acting as well as in theatre & dance scenes. Taeyun is fascinated by female psychology and physical reaction in an environment subtly invasive patriarchical. It is never just a fun topic but it captivates her to explore it and turn into choreography that is narrative-driven within her body. Taeyun currently holds the Global Talent Visa endorsed by Arts Council England, valid until January 2030.
